First, forget what you know about 1950s serialization. Suhr does not publish a simple public chart that maps serial numbers directly to production years (e.g., "SN 10,000 = 2015"). Why? Because Suhr doesn’t build in massive, sequential batches.

Founder John Suhr and Master Builder Jon Carr have maintained a philosophy of continuous improvement. A single week’s production might include a run of 20 Classic S models (sequential SNs), followed by a one-off custom order for a returning artist (non-sequential SN). Consequently, the lookup process is relational, not absolute.

Usually 2–3 business days. During NAMM or holiday seasons, it might take a week.

Suhr Serial Numbers identify approximate manufacture year and sometimes run or production order for Suhr guitars (including JS, Classic, Modern/Classic Pro lines). Suhr uses numeric serials (no embedded letters) and the format/assignment changed over time. Exact dating often requires cross-referencing serial with build spec, photos, or factory records.
