She was crowned Miss Surat in 1998 and went on to compete in the Miss India pageant in 2001. While she didn't win the national title, her striking height and imposing screen presence caught the attention of film producers in the South.

    Her debut in the Telugu film Sontham (2002) marked the beginning of a journey that would soon make her a household name. However, it was her entry into Tamil cinema with Engal Anna (2004) opposite Vijayakanth that catapulted her to stardom.
