Originally a short, first-person horror experience released on [Itch.io] in 2021, Slice Of Venture tasked players with navigating a collapsing research facility overrun by parasitic flora and failed clones. The "Remake" project—started in late 2023—aims to expand the original 45-minute runtime into a multi-chapter, third-person survival horror game reminiscent of Resident Evil or Silent Hill.
Version 0.2 introduced over-the-shoulder combat, inventory management, and a sanity system. Version 0.3, however, is the "Ark Thompson" update—a nod to the protagonist of Resident Evil: Survivor, known for his dual-wielding ability and fragmented memory.
The most significant change in v0.3 is the shift in protagonist. Previously, players controlled a generic researcher. Ark’s gameplay loop revolves around fragmented recollection. Instead of a standard health bar, Ark has a "Clarity Meter." As you take damage or witness horrors, the screen distorts with VHS static, and hallucinated enemies spawn from previous loops. To restore clarity, you must find and listen to audio logs—but each log triggers a random, unwinnable chase sequence.
