Original Manual: "Verify the meter is within network range." Better Manual: "Check the 'T' flag on the LCD. If you see a small 'T' flashing, the meter is transmitting. If not, the meter is in 'Fixed Network Mode' but hasn't joined a collector. You must drive a Sensus Field PC within 50 feet to 'handshake' it. The manual forgot to mention the handshake takes 3 to 15 minutes, not 5 seconds."

Symptom: LCD is blank. No LED flash. Manual Answer: The meter is in “Deep Sleep” mode to save battery during storage. Better Fix: Do not use a standard magnet. Use a rare earth magnet (neodymium). The manual’s spec requires 200 Gauss minimum. A fridge magnet is 50 Gauss. Use a hard drive magnet or buy a Sensus activation tool.
