Schritte International A12 Answers Better Review

I am not naive. You are going to check your work. Here is the Healthy Protocol for using answer keys for Schritte International.

Let’s be practical. Schritte International is published by Hueber. Hueber sells the Lehrerhandbuch (teacher’s book) for about €15. That teacher’s book does have the answers.

Downloading a free PDF of the teacher’s book is piracy. But more importantly, it is a tool for teachers to explain why an answer is wrong. If you just look at the back, you lose the "why."

Typical Exercise: "___ (du/können) mir helfen?"

Lazy answer check: "Kannst du mir helfen?" – OK.

Better approach: Create a conjugation chart next to the answer: I am not naive

Then, change the pronoun in your head: What if it said "ihr"? (Könnt ihr mir helfen?) If you can't answer, you haven't mastered it.

Typical Exercise: "Der Kurs ist ___ Montag ___ Freitag."

Lazy answer check: "von Montag bis Freitag." – Good. Typical Exercise: "___ (du/können) mir helfen

Better approach: Write the entire rule:

Then create 3 of your own sentences using the same structure. This turns passive checking into active production.

Instead of hunting for PDFs, use the Hueber Media App or the official website. Many Schritte books have the listening files and some self-check options. If you are using the Selbstlernkurs (self-study course), use the official answer key at the back of the Kursbuch—it is meant for you.
