Sagem Compact Biometric Module Driver Patched Now
Crucial warning: Do not download drivers from third-party repositories. Use only:
The most severe vulnerability involved a heap-based buffer overflow in the driver’s input validation routine. When the Sagem CBM driver received a specially crafted packet of biometric data (larger than the allocated buffer), it would overwrite adjacent memory.
Exploit scenario: A malicious user with physical access to a USB-connected Sagem reader could send malformed data, causing the driver to execute arbitrary code. This effectively bypassed the need for a real fingerprint. sagem compact biometric module driver patched
If you are responsible for systems with Sagem Compact Biometric Modules, verify your driver version immediately:
On Windows:
Alternatively, run PowerShell as Administrator:
Get-WmiObject Win32_PnPSignedDriver | Where-Object $_.DeviceName -like "*Sagem*" | Select-Object DeviceName, DriverVersion
For system integrators and hardware enthusiasts working with legacy access control systems, few things are as frustrating as a "phantom device." You plug in the hardware, the power light blinks, but the operating system simply shrugs. No driver found. Device Unknown. Crucial warning: Do not download drivers from third-party
The SageM Compact Biometric Module is a robust piece of hardware found in many older security deployments. However, getting it to play nice with modern 64-bit versions of Windows or Linux distributions has been a nightmare—until now.
Today, we are releasing a patched driver package that revives this hardware for modern architectures. For system integrators and hardware enthusiasts working with
