Dtc F00316 - Renault

Do not simply clear the code. It will return within 5-50 miles if the root issue remains.

The LIN bus is a single wire (usually white or yellow with a tracer) running from the ECU to the alternator. On many Renaults, this wire passes near the front subframe or oil filter housing. Oil leaks, road salt, or engine vibration can chafe or corrode the wire. Even one broken strand causes intermittent signal loss.

When F00316 appears, the ECU is saying: “The voltage I am receiving from that sensor is either 0V, 5V constantly, or fluctuating outside the expected 0.2V–4.8V range.” renault dtc f00316

Renault engines (particularly the 1.2 TCe, 1.6 TCe, and older K-series engines) are prone to specific failures that trigger this code.

1. Ignition System Failures (Most Common) Do not simply clear the code

2. Fuel Delivery Issues

3. Mechanical/Engine Issues (Critical for 1.2/1.6 TCe Engines) The ECU sets F00316 when:

4. Sensors

The ECU sets F00316 when:

Freeze frame typically shows:
Engine speed: 1800–3000 rpm
Rail setpoint: 800–1600 bar
Actual rail pressure: 500–1200 bar
Fuel flow correction: > ±20 mg/stroke

| Engine | Specifics | |--------|------------| | K9K 1.5 dCi | Very sensitive to filter blockage. FQR failure common after 120k km. | | R9M 1.6 dCi | Also common; check low pressure pump relay and fuse. | | M9R 2.0 dCi | Rare; often misdiagnosed – check EGR first (F00316 can appear secondary). |
