PCSX2 1.7.0 allows you to tweak BIOS-related settings that weren’t available in 1.6.0:

With PCSX2 1.7.0, you can enable Fast Boot to bypass the BIOS startup animation entirely, saving precious seconds when loading games. However, some games require the full BIOS boot sequence. You can toggle this in Settings > Emulation.

Go to Tools > Boot BIOS (not “Boot Game”). If your BIOS works, you will see the classic PlayStation 2 startup menu (the floating cubes/spheres). If you see a black screen or an error, your BIOS dump is corrupted or not compatible.
