Never unplug the N1 during a firmware update. Wait for the “Update Complete” message.
Use the same USB port every time. Windows learns the device on a per-port basis.
Keep the Newgamepad Utility updated – enable automatic updates in the software.
Run the utility as Administrator so it can write drivers without permission issues.
Avoid third-party USB extenders or hubs – connect the N1 directly to the motherboard back panel.
Create a System Restore point after a successful driver installation.

  • Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and end tasks for: unplug and replug the N1.
