The plot is essentially a long chase with multiple pit stops for lore, but it never feels bloated. Every new character serves the action or raises the stakes.
John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum picks up literally seconds after Chapter 2 ends. John Wick (Keanu Reeves) has been declared “excommunicado” — stripped of all Continental privileges, his bloodline marker voided, and a $14 million global bounty placed on his head. The opening sequence, set in a rainy New York City library and a horse stable, immediately establishes the film’s relentless pace and brutal choreography. There’s no 20-minute warm-up. Within the first ten minutes, John has killed several people with a book and a horse’s hoof.

No film is perfect. Parabellum is about 15 minutes too long, especially in the final act. After the stunning glass-room fight, the movie tries to end three different times. The resolution with Winston feels abrupt and a little confusing (a later viewing clarifies it, but first-time watchers may scratch their heads). Also, some CGI blood splatters look oddly video-gamey compared to the practical effects used elsewhere.
