M.L. Revathi is a Tamil script font developed by the M.L. (Muthulakshmi) group, popular in the late 1990s and early 2000s. It was known for:

Adobe PageMaker 6.5 and 7.0 had limited support for complex scripts. Unicode was not fully matured. ML Revathi was engineered to work flawlessly with PageMaker's "ANSI" text engine.

ML Revathi was designed for specific code pages (Windows-1252 or custom). If your Windows Regional Settings are not set correctly, the Malayalam characters will map to Latin letters (e.g., typing a Malayalam "ka" produces an English "A").

Adobe PageMaker (versions 6.5, 7.0) was the go-to layout software for newspapers, magazines, and book publishers in India during that period. However, PageMaker had limited support for complex scripts. The workaround was using font-specific keyboard drivers (often from the font vendor) that overrode English keyboard keys to produce Tamil characters.

Since PageMaker won't run natively, use Wine on Linux or VirtualBox with Windows XP image. Alternatively, use PageMaker 7.0 Patch for NT. Note: Direct installation on Win11 often results in the font not rendering in the PageMaker font list.
