Rating: 6/10

The Croatian Language Pack for Office 2013 does exactly what it promises: it transforms the interface of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook into Croatian. However, because Office 2013 is an End-of-Life product, finding a legitimate "free" copy is risky, and the translation quality feels slightly dated compared to modern Office versions.

Assuming you have legally obtained the hr-hr language pack for Office 2013, follow these steps:

This method is 100% free and legal. It will install the spelling, grammar, and thesaurus for Croatian. The only thing it won't change is your menu ribbons (File, Edit, View will remain in English or your default language).

Overall Rating for legitimate users: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5) – Good, but dated and hard to find officially now.

If you purchased Office 2013 directly from Microsoft (Retail version), you used to have access to language packs via your Microsoft Account dashboard. Today, that interface has been updated for Microsoft 365.

Workaround:

Success rate: 40%. Some support agents still have access to legacy internal download portals.

Q: Is it legal to use the Microsoft CDN links?
A: Yes, if you own a legitimate Office 2013 license. The link is from Microsoft’s public Akamai server; you are simply downloading an add-on for software you already paid for.

Q: Will this work with Office 2013 RT (Windows RT tablets)?
A: No. Windows RT does not allow language pack installation.

Q: Can I switch back to English later?
A: Yes. Go to Language preferences > English > Set as default. You can keep both packs installed.

Q: Does the Croatian pack include Bosnian or Serbian?
A: No. Croatian (hr-HR) is distinct. Serbian uses Cyrillic/Latin with different grammar. You would need a separate pack.

Office 2013 is old. Security updates have stopped. If you eventually switch to Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365), the Croatian Language Pack is included for free in every subscription. You simply go to Settings > Language > Add Croatian. No searching required.

But for now, if you are clinging to Office 2013 because you hate subscriptions, the methods above (especially Method 2 with the direct Microsoft CDN links) remain the only legitimate, safe, and free way to get the Croatian language pack.
