Sometimes Windows downloads or moves Mastercam files and sets a "Mark of the Web" (Zone Identifier) that declares the EXE unsafe.
Before reinstalling anything, tell Windows to treat Mastercam X5 like its native operating system.
Why this works: It forces Windows to emulate the environment X5 expects. If the error persists, move to Solution 2.
Mastercam X5 is a 32-bit application designed for older operating systems (Windows XP, Vista, and 7). When you see the “.exe not valid” error on a modern machine (Windows 10/11), it usually boils down to one of three culprits:
If the .exe file is present but the computer says it is "not valid," the installation might be corrupted.
If the paths look incorrect, it is usually faster to uninstall and reinstall Mastercam rather than editing the registry manually.
