We get it: authentication is one of the first boxes to check when building a website or application. It’s built to get the job done, and then it slowly becomes legacy code that no one wants to touch.
Today’s rapidly evolving security landscape, diverse and context-specific UX needs, and user privacy concerns all require more from traditional authentication. NuID addresses these challenges with a platform that grows and adapts to the new demands of digital identity.
By building with NuID, you ensure your applications and services remain embedded in modern cryptographic best practices.
Because that's what login should do.

The past decade has witnessed a “new wave” (often called the Malayalam New Wave) that has gained international acclaim. Directors like Lijo Jose Pellissery (Ee.Ma.Yau. – 2018, Jallikattu – 2019) and Dileesh Pothan (Joji – 2021) have pushed formal boundaries while staying fiercely local. Ee.Ma.Yau., a dark comedy about a funeral in a coastal village, deconstructs Christian death rituals with absurdist flair. Jallikattu, a visceral chase for a runaway bull, becomes a metaphor for primal human greed, rooted in the harvest festival of the same name. Streaming platforms have allowed these films to reach global audiences, yet their core remains unmistakably Keralite.
Best for: Sparking a quick debate or appreciation thread.
Post: Malayalam cinema didn’t become great by trying to be Hollywood. It became great by being Kerala. 🌴 mallu anty big boobs verified
It’s the only industry where the rain is a character, the food isn't just a prop, and the hero doesn't always win the fight, but he learns a lesson.
What is the one Malayalam movie that you feel perfectly captures the soul of Kerala? For me, it has to be [Insert Movie Name, e.g., Premam or Kumbalangi Nights].

No discussion of culture is complete without sadhya (the traditional feast), coconut-laced cuisine, and the sharp, witty Malayali humor. Malayalam cinema delights in authentic culinary details—from the puttu and kadala curry in Kumbalangi Nights (2019) to the karimeen pollichathu (pearl spot fish) in June (2019). The language itself varies by region and class: the northern Malabar dialect, the central Travancore accent, and the anglicized urban slang of Kochi. Films like Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum (2017) masterfully use these linguistic nuances for comedy and character development. Moreover, the trademark Malayali sarcasm—dry, intellectual, and self-deprecating—is the lifeblood of many scenes, making the ordinary extraordinary.
For decades, films celebrated the sacrificial mother or the chaste wife. But the "New Wave" (post-2010) has produced radical departures:
These films sparked real-world debates, with The Great Indian Kitchen leading to discussions on kitchen labor and marital rape in Malayalam households.
No mirror is perfect. Malayalam cinema has also mirrored Kerala’s less admirable traits: Content Verification :
| Cultural Flaw | Cinematic Complicity | | :--- | :--- | | Colorism | Fair-skinned leads, dark-skinned comedians or villains (only recently challenged). | | Caste Elitism | For decades, the hero was a savarna (upper caste) Nair or Christian; Dalit characters were either invisible or servants. | | Male Gaze | The "item song" persisted, objectifying women in a state with high gender equality indices. | | Tolerance of Misogyny | Many 90s films normalised stalking as romance (Aniyathipravu, 1997). |
Correction: The post-2010 "New Generation" and subsequent "Women in Cinema" collectives have begun actively dismantling these tropes.
Kerala’s high literacy rate, progressive land reforms, and strong communist tradition have profoundly influenced its cinema. Malayalam films have never shied away from class struggle, caste oppression, and political hypocrisy. The early works of legendary directors like Adoor Gopalakrishnan (Elippathayam – 1981) and John Abraham (Amma Ariyan – 1986) deconstructed feudal power structures. Later, films like Ore Kadal (2007) and Maheshinte Prathikaaram (2016) subtly critique middle-class morality. Even mainstream superstars like Mammootty have anchored politically charged films like Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha (2009), which uncovers a buried caste murder. This willingness to confront social ills makes Malayalam cinema a chronicle of Kerala’s evolving conscience.
At NuID's core is an established cryptographic method to verify that a user can produce a secret value, such as a password or private key, without revealing that secret to anyone. Ever.
Instead of sharing this secret with an authenticating server, a cryptographic zero knowledge proof of the secret is generated on the client device. The proof is used to verify that the user input the correct authentication secret, without any private authentication data leaving their device.
Combining this capability with emerging distributed ledger technologies removes the need for users to trust anyone with their passwords and other authentication secrets, giving them ownership over their authentication credentials and, eventually, their digital representation across the web.
NuID White Paper
We believe the next wave of technological transformation will bring persistent, privacy-forward digital identity to the web, which will simplify and de-risk the flow of information over our public and private networks.
NuID's open authentication protocol and API were designed to transition seamlessly between web2, web3, and all the webs before and after that. And authentication is only the beginning.
NuID is building a foundation for a decentralized identity ecosystem
that goes beyond just login. Check out the NuID White Paper to learn about the future of digital identity, or get in touch to discuss
with our team.
Users—people—want more privacy, transparency, and agency in how their online data is managed. In other words, we need to retrofit the internet with a sound identity layer.
