The Holy Nation territories (Okran’s Valley, Okran’s Gulf) undergo a political transformation. The Genesis Map introduces the Holy Nation South, an offshoot zealot faction far more aggressive than the vanilla paladins. Their cities—like Stack and Bad Teeth—have been fortified with outer walls, farmland, and Inquisitorial headquarters. If you are a skeleton or a Shek, these areas are death sentences, but they also offer unique bounty quests.
In vanilla, The Hub is a sad, broken row of buildings. In Genesis, The Hub becomes a true frontier metropolis. The Genesis Map expands The Hub’s walls, adds functioning shops, a thriving bar district, and even a hidden thieves' guild extension. The area surrounding The Hub is no longer just hungry bandits; you’ll find neutral refugee camps, ruined farms that can be claimed, and a new faction called the Hub Rebels who fight the Holy Nation for control of the old trade routes. kenshi genesis map

1. The Difficulty Curve: Genesis is generally harder than vanilla, but sometimes for the wrong reasons. Because there are so many new factions, you will often run into "death squads" wandering the map that you have no reference for. You might stumble into a zone guarded by a Genesis-exclusive faction that is significantly stronger than anything in vanilla, leading to frustrating squad wipes without warning.
2. The Economy: With the addition of so many high-tier weapons and loot, you might find yourself becoming rich faster than in vanilla. The economy is slightly inflated because there is so much "ancient" loot to find in the new ruins.
3. Research Bloat: The mod adds a massive amount of new building and crafting research. While cool, some of it feels like "busy work." You have to research basic items that feel like they should be standard, which can slow down the early-game base-building significantly.
