The story revolves around Shantanu, a young CA aspirant living in East Delhi (the "Jamnapaar" side). Like many youngsters in the area, he is desperate to leave behind his roots, his coaching center life, and his middle-class constraints to cross the river and make it big in the glittering corporate world of New Delhi.
The series follows his journey as he navigates the pressures of clearing the CA exams, the insecurities of belonging to a "lesser" part of the city, and the complexities of love and friendship. It is a story about identity, ambition, and the realization that geography doesn't define a person's worth. | Actor | Character | Role Description |
Season 1 consists of roughly 8 episodes.
For the uninitiated, "Jamnapaar" literally translates to "across the Yamuna." In Delhi's local lingo, it refers to the trans-Yamuna region (areas like Laxmi Nagar, Shakarpur, Preet Vihar, and Mayur Vihar). Historically, this side of Delhi has been home to a large migrant population, primarily from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar (Purvanchal).
The web series uses this geographical and cultural marker as a metaphor for the invisible barrier between the "haves" and the "have-nots," between rooted middle-class values and the glossy, fast-paced life of West Delhi or South Delhi.
