The “24 12 09” date refers to the official digital drop—Christmas Eve 2009, a counter-programming move against holiday specials.

In 2009, the term “lifestyle entertainment” was still associated with real estate flipping shows and makeover programs. Damian and Thalia proposed a radical alternative: unscripted living as interactive art.

Gone are the days of static influencer content. This new era, launching December 9, 2024, positions Day and Rhea as co-architects of a multi-platform brand that blurs the line between luxury vlogging and interactive showmanship.

The term “hotguys” in the keyword is intentionally misleading. Neither Damian Day nor Thalia Rhea would describe themselves that way. In the project’s accompanying blog post (still accessible via the Wayback Machine as of 2023), Day wrote: These principles anticipated slow TV, ASMR performance art,

“Hot is not a state of body. Hot is a frequency of presence. When Thalia and I made this, we were not trying to be hot. We were trying to be alive. And for 72 hours, that aliveness became its own kind of heat.”

Thus, “hotguys” operates as ironic branding—a Trojan horse to pull in viewers expecting shirtless choreography, only to serve them a meditation on discipline, co-regulation, and the aesthetics of effort. The plural “guys” is also inclusive: Thalia is frequently referred to as “one of the guys” in the fandom, highlighting the project’s rejection of gendered performance roles.
