Abstract: This paper examines the dynamic landscape of Indonesian entertainment, focusing on the shift from traditional broadcast media (television and film) to digital popular videos on platforms like YouTube and TikTok. It argues that while Indonesian entertainment has long been characterized by distinct cultural narratives (e.g., sinetron soap operas, dangdut music), the advent of social video has democratized content creation, fostered new genres (e.g., ASMR makan, POV comedy), and amplified local identity within a global digital space.
