Jacob Elordi, previously known for the The Kissing Booth franchise, sheds his heartthrob skin entirely. Nate is a coiled snake. After that assault, Maddy returns home and lies to her parents, claiming the bruises on her neck are from a hickey. She then has sex with Nate, crying silently while he is on top of her.

This is the episode's thesis statement: Euphoria is about the lies we tell ourselves to survive. Maddy convinces herself that Nate’s violence is passion.
