Even with trusted lists, bad servers occasionally slip in. You must manually filter your list to stay safe.

To get your eMule client up and running with a reliable server list, you can use these verified URLs. These links provide a server.met file, which eMule uses to identify active servers on the eD2k network. Verified Server List URLs

On the right-hand side, find the box labeled Update server.met from URL. Paste one of the URLs listed above and click Update.

To automate this, go to Options > Server and check Auto-update server list at startup. Click the List... button and paste the URL into the addresses.dat file that opens.

As of late 2024, the number of public eD2k servers has dwindled. Ten years ago, lists contained 500+ servers. Today, a healthy list has 40–60. The major survivors include:

The trend is toward smaller, private, and invite-only server lists used by niche communities (e.g., eMule lovers of classical music, vintage software, academic texts). For the casual user, the public Emule server list is slowly dying, but Kad is stepping up.

Our recommendation: Download a final server list in 2024, then focus on bootstrapping Kad via known nodes (nodes.dat). Learn to use Kad’s global search and source exchange. The server list is now a legacy handshake, not a lifestyle.

Having the best server list means nothing if your ports are blocked. eMule requires open ports to achieve "High ID" (fast downloads).


Inside eMule, go to Options > Server and paste the following URLs into the "Update Server.met from URL" field. These are maintained by the community:

How to use: Check the box "Auto update server list on connection" and click "Apply." eMule will fetch a fresh list every time it starts.

Cause: Your router/firewall is blocking ports (default eMule TCP: 4662, UDP: 4672). Solution: Forward those ports in your router. Set a static IP. Disable Windows Defender temporarily to test.
