    Apple has a hidden feature: if you’ve purchased (or downloaded for free) Pages before, the App Store will offer to download the last compatible version for your operating system.

    Note: This method fails if you have never downloaded Pages before on your Apple ID. In that case, you cannot prove a "purchase history," and the store will only show the latest version (which you can't run). If you are on a newer Mac but

    Here is the magic moment. When you click download, the App Store checks your macOS version. If it sees you are running an older OS that cannot support the newest Pages, it will automatically say:

    "Download an older version of Pages? The current version requires macOS 14.0, but you have macOS 12.0. Do you want to download the last compatible version?" Pages 8

    Click Download.

    When you downgrade, you lose any templates that shipped with newer versions. You can manually copy template files from a newer Mac's /Library/Application Support/Pages/Templates/ folder, but compatibility is not guaranteed.
