Sulley and Mike manage to escape with Boo. While hiding from Randall and the CDA, a turning point occurs. Sulley, who has always taken pride in being "the best Scarer," accidentally scares Boo while trying to demonstrate his roar. Seeing her genuine terror breaks his heart. Before sending Boo home, Sulley and Mike confront Mr. Waternoose. They trick him into confessing his plan to the CDA, leading to his arrest. The CDA agent in charge, Roz, reveals she was working undercover to expose the corruption.

It is time for Boo to go home. In a heartbreaking moment, Sulley says goodbye to his little friend. He hugs her, and she gives him a drawing she made of him and Mike. Her door is then shredded by the CDA to prevent her return.
