In the intended design, relationships in Everlust require investment (time and resources). By removing the scarcity of resources, the "value" of romantic interactions is diminished. The psychological loop of "effort = reward" is broken.
The deity romance (Aurora, Goddess of Dawn) had zero dialogue after Act 1. Players assumed it was unfinished. The cracked code showed a “Devotion Threshold” of 10,000. No vanilla player ever reached it. The UPD lowers the threshold to 2,500 and reveals the hidden dialogue: Aurora is actually a depressed cosmic horror seeking mortal comfort. Her storyline is now considered the most heartbreaking in the genre.
