Today, a legitimate copy of Armageddon is available in 1080p, 4K Dolby Vision, and with lossless audio (DTS-HD MA or Dolby TrueHD). The AAC 5.1 in that file name is a compressed, lossy version.

Why 4K matters – The 2020 remaster fixes the heavy DNR (digital noise reduction) of early BluRays. Grain is preserved, colors pop, and the asteroid explosion sequence looks incredible in HDR.

NASA criticized the film, but audiences didn’t care. In fact, the Armageddon DVD commentary features Ben Affleck jokingly asking director Michael Bay, “Why is it easier to train oil drillers to be astronauts than to train astronauts to drill?” Today, a legitimate copy of Armageddon is available
