Calibri Arabic Font [2026]

Calibri is a humanist sans-serif typeface designed by Lucas de Groot and has been the default font for Microsoft Office since 2007. It offers excellent legibility on screens and in print. However, Calibri’s character set does not include Arabic letters. Therefore, when writing Arabic within a Calibri-based document, the operating system or word processor substitutes a compatible Arabic font—such as Simplified Arabic, Traditional Arabic, or Segoe UI—while keeping English text in Calibri.

Below is an example paragraph in Arabic. In your word processor, the Arabic letters will appear automatically, typically in a font like Traditional Arabic or Arial (Arabic), while the surrounding Latin text stays in Calibri.

Arabic sentence (basmala):
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ calibri arabic font

Translation: In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Another example (common phrase):
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته Calibri is a humanist sans-serif typeface designed by

Translation: Peace be upon you and God’s mercy and blessings.

A longer Arabic passage:
تعتبر الخطوط العربية جزءًا أساسيًا من الهوية البصرية للعالم الإسلامي. عند كتابة نص عربي في مستند يستخدم خط Calibri للنص الإنجليزي، فإن البرنامج يستبدل تلقائيًا الخط المناسب للعربية مع الحفاظ على اتجاه النص من اليمين إلى اليسار. هذا التكامل يسهل العمل على الأبحاث ثنائية اللغة. Below is an example paragraph in Arabic

English translation of the above:
Arabic fonts are an essential part of the visual identity of the Islamic world. When writing Arabic text in a document that uses Calibri for English text, the software automatically substitutes an appropriate Arabic font while preserving right-to-left text direction. This integration facilitates work on bilingual research.

If you’re sharing a bilingual Calibri document, embed the fonts in Word (File > Options > Save > Embed fonts in the file) or convert the text to outlines (if using design software). Better yet, switch to a universally available Arabic font like Noto Naskh before finalizing the PDF.
