Once you unlock Uriko, you gain access to one of the most unbalanced but fun characters in fighting game history.
If you cannot complete the strict Arcade mode requirement, there are two alternative methods to unlock Uriko.
Fight through the usual arcade ladder. You will face the core roster in random order. You do not need perfect rounds (2-0 wins are not required). You just need to survive.
Immediately after defeating Gado (and watching the ending cinematic for the character you used), the screen will cut to black or transition to a secret stage. You will hear a unique sound effect, and a message will appear on screen indicating "Here comes a new challenger!" Bloody Roar 1 Unlock Uriko
You will now fight Uriko. She appears in her "Half-Beast" form (a transitional state between human and chimera).
There is a lot of misinformation on old GameFAQs forums about this unlock. Some claim you need to beat the game on "Hard" without losing a round. That is false. The correct method is specific, but not brutally difficult.
The Requirement: To face and unlock Uriko, you must reach the true final boss without using a continue. Once you unlock Uriko, you gain access to
Step 1: Start an Arcade Mode Run Select any character you are comfortable with. Yugo (The Wolf) or Bakuryu (The Mole) are recommended for their speed, but any character works.
Step 2: Defeat the First 7 Opponents You must fight through the first seven matches without losing a single round. Yes, that means you need perfect victories or at least 2-0 round wins. If you lose a round, you must reset the game and start over.
Step 3: The Critical Match – Uriko Appears At match 8, instead of fighting the usual opponent, you will fight Uriko. She will not be named "Uriko" on the loading screen initially; she may appear as a silhouette or a generic portrait. This is the secret mid-boss fight. Step 3: The Critical Match – Uriko Appears
Step 4: Defeat Uriko via Special Requirement Here is where 90% of players fail. You cannot just beat her. You must defeat Uriko using a Beast Drive (Super Move) as the final hit.
Step 5: Defeat the Final Boss (The Beast) After beating Uriko, you will proceed to the final boss, the giant blue Zoanthrope Lord ("The Beast"). Beat him using any method (Beast Drive not required).
Step 6: Watch the Credits & Save Let the credits roll. Do not reset the console. After the credits, the game will return to the title screen. When you go into the Options menu, you will see a new "Secret Characters" tab.
Step 7: Register on a Memory Card Go to the options menu and select "Save." Your save file will now have Uriko permanently unlocked. On the character select screen, move your cursor to "Random" or the empty spot at the bottom right, and press Up. Uriko should appear.
While any fighter can unlock her, some make it vastly easier. Because the final stretch requires speed, avoid slow characters like Gado (Mole) or Greg (Gorilla). The best picks are:
