The economy is harsh, the police are unforgiving, and the map covers a massive stretch of North America—from the tundras of Canada down to the deserts of Mexico. The game occupies a unique "sweet spot" for modders. It is more advanced than its predecessors (Pedal to the Metal, Haulin’), but less restrictive than modern games that rely on encrypted files. ALH is built on a relatively accessible engine, allowing modders to rip apart the game’s guts and reassemble them in wildly creative ways.
Vanilla traffic is sparse and robotic. This mod doubles the number of AI cars, adds semi-trucks to rest areas, and tweaks the AI to merge correctly on freeway on-ramps. It also adds State Troopers who actually use radar.
